# EMV TLV Parser

> Decode an EMVCo tag-length-value payload into a readable tree. Same format used by PIX, QRIS, PromptPay, DuitNow, VietQR, and BharatQR.

## About

EMVCo merchant-presented QR codes — the same document used for PIX, QRIS, PromptPay, DuitNow, VietQR, BharatQR, and most national QR-payment schemes — encode every field as a TLV triple: 2 hex digits of tag, 2 hex digits of length, then the value. Tags can nest, and a high bit on the first tag digit marks a constructed (nested) tag like 26 or 62.

This parser walks the payload character by character and returns a readable tree. Use it to debug a payment integrator, sanity-check a QR you scanned, or reverse-engineer an unknown merchant payload. Parsing happens entirely in your browser — useful for production data, not just synthetic test values.

## How to use

1. **Paste a hex or ASCII payload** — Any string of EMVCo TLV data. Examples are provided.
2. **Read the decoded tree** — Each tag is shown with its length, its value, and any nested children.
3. **Copy or download the result** — Save the parsed tree as JSON for later comparison.

## FAQ

### Does this tool work for PIX and PromptPay too?

Yes. PIX, PromptPay, QRIS, DuitNow, PayNow, VietQR, and BharatQR are all EMVCo merchant-presented QR profiles, and they share the same TLV format. The parser will walk any of them.

### Does it validate the CRC?

No — this tool only walks the TLV tree. For CRC validation and modification (turn a static QRIS into a dynamic one, for example) use the QRIS Modifier.

### Is my QR data uploaded?

No. The parser runs entirely in your browser; the network panel will show no requests carrying your payload.
